We are a declared public utility entity founded in 1856 with full sporting and social activity.
Distinguished as one of the Catalan Tennis Clubs of Excellence by the Catalan Tennis Federation, we are a leading club in the national scene.
Our mission is to promote and develop physical activity within a family and social environment in a privileged geographical setting and first-class facilities.
On December 5, 1856, the Cercle Sabadellès 1856 was founded as a cultural and recreational entity in the city of Sabadell with only 40 members. The first president was Mr. Pere Turull. The people who founded the Cercle formed the industrial and financial bourgeoisie of the city and were the same people or families who also founded the Caixa d'Estalvis de Sabadell, Banco Sabadell or the Gremi de Fabricants. For many years it was the center of Sabadell's social life in its premises on Carrer Sant Pau and in 1956 it received the Gold Medal of the City of Sabadell.
In 1967, the Extraordinary General Assembly of Members approved incorporating the number 1856 into the company name to perpetuate the year of the foundation and in 1984 the name in Catalan, Cercle, was officially registered.
Sabadellès 1856, in the register of clubs, associations and sports entities of the General Directorate of Sport of the Generalitat Catalonia.
The directors of the entity in 1969 decided to incorporate a sporting aspect that would complement the social and cultural activities. As a result of their efforts, in 1973 the new sports facilities were inaugurated on the Bellaterra road, where all the life of the club is channeled. In 2002 the headquarters were moved from the center of Sabadell to the new facilities and a year later the Generalitat de Catalunya named the entity Forjadora de la Història Esportiva de Catalunya and the Council of Ministers declared it of Public Utility.

Cercle Sabadellès 1856 is the sports club with the longest history in Catalonia. Of these almost 170 years of history, more than 50 have been lived in the current facilities on the Bellaterra road. This entire journey is captured in the story “From Casino to Sports Club. History of Cercle Sabadellès 1856.” which you can purchase at the club reception.
